Pet Urine Accidents? Urine Luck!
Is carpet cleaning the answer to removing severe pet odors?
The short answer is “no”. Carpet cleaning by itself is inadequate at handling the odors that come from pet accidents.
In a nutshell, when a pet urinates on the carpet, gravity is “always” at work. Thus, especially with large dogs with large bladders, their urine penetrates down through the fibers, through the backing of your carpet, down into the pad, and even to the sub-floor.
When urine dries, it forms uric salts which can last up to 20 years! Whenever it gets hot and humid, these salts will activate producing the urine odor. Thus, the way to attack this odor is to address every level within the flooring system. The Hughes Dry Complete Urine Decontamination Program is the most effective way of removing urine odors.
Our 8 step program is as follows:
- Lift carpet
- Treat affected carpet backing with a powerful enzyme
- Excise the affected pad
- Seal the affected sub floor
- Install like pad or upgrade to membrane pad
- Reattach the carpet
- Treat the surface yarns
- HOST clean the carpets
Now, every level of the flooring system from the tips of the fibers down to the sub-floor has been addressed.
Note: This requires the skills of an experienced Carpet Repair Technician. Westley, our Carpet Repair Expert, has been providing this service for over 13 years with Hughes Dry. Anything short of doing these 8 steps usually results in failure. However, we have performed hundreds of these Urine Decontamination Programs through the years which makes it second nature to us.
